BAR

We will visit the Old Town of Bar which may lie in ruins - but it still has many stories to share with you. The old town of Bar, in the southeast of Montenegro, has seen its share of troubles. Over the centuries it was taken over by the Venetians, Serbs, Hungarians and the Ottoman Empire. Most of the period is was under the Ottoman Empire, so oriental culture prevailed, mostly part of the population are the Muslims. The city has been constantly expanding for centuries and today you can see the remains of buildings of different architecture. The oldest part of the city is the part around the gate, which is located on a protruding rock, while inside the city there are remains of numerous churches from different periods. We will see the remains of the Roman-Gothic Cathedral of St. George, as well as two Gothic churches, St. Catherine and St. Veneranda..We will also visit an old olive tree, which for over 2000 years bears witness to the stormy history of Bar, but also to the coexistence of people in this area. This olive tree is one of the oldest in Europe, it has been under state protection since 1957. Many couples like to get married at this Natural Monument .Why is the Old Olive located in a place called Mirovica , what are the fruits used for... and many other stories, and legends, you will learn from the guide under the canopy of this sacred tree.

ULCINJ

We will visit the old town of Ulcinj which is one of the oldest urban architectural complexes along the Adriatic Sea. In this enchanting dish resembling a stranded ship for 25 centuries life has been booming, civilizations have been exchanging leaving their vivid traces up to now. It is a unique opinion that the Old Town represents a cultural-historical monument of invaluable significance due to its Illyrian walls, its citadel, the street net, the markets and squares, some house blocks and some valuable architectural edifices, and especially due to its town landscape, silhouette and urban plaster. It has been built for 2.5 millenniums and during different economical, military and cultural conditions, thus the old town has got the characteristic of an organic complex. It is an antique town with picturesque middle-aged, narrow and curving streets, densely joined two-and- three-floor stone houses decorated by elements of the Renaissance and Baroque, and finally there is a series of valuable edifices from the Ottoman time. The oldest remnants of the walls date back to the Illyrian time. In the VI century the town got two gates: the lower (Eastern), which can be reached from the sea-side and the upper (Western), which can be reached from land.

We will see Balsica Tower, Venice Palace, Balsica Court, and unbelievable Slave Market.

SKADAR

With us you will visit the "last secret of Europe", which the country hid behind the "iron curtain". The symbol of the city is the union of three religious buildings in the very heart of Shkoder (church, cathedral and mosque) which are witnesses of faith, hope and reconciliation. Get to know the history of Rozafa Fortress, which dominates the city and has defied time for two thousand years. Rozafa was built on a hill above the confluence of Buna in Bojana and Drima in Kira. Rozafa is a fortress about which legends are told and which was used for the famous epic poem Zidanje Skadra na Bojani. It is said that three brothers were building a fortress, but everything they built would collapse overnight, so a wise man told them that they must build the wife of one of them into the foundation. The older brothers revealed the secret to their wives, and the youngest daughter-in-law, Rozafa, agreed to wall her up, but to leave one breast for her to breastfeed the child. That myth continues today. The fortress is not particularly decorated, but it has a small, practical ethnographic museum and a cafe with a really good view of the whole of Shkodër and its surroundings. There, waiters in national costumes serve us coffee, of course, like in the old days in mugs, with chives and a glass of sour water. After the tour, we go to a national restaurant for lunch and return satisfied.
